Throwback Thursday: Tool Performing 'Opiate' on a Beach With Layne Staley in 1993

It's Thursday, and that means it's throwback time! Let's take you back to 1993 at the inaugural Big Mele festival in Hawaii, when Tool were joined on stage by Alice In Chains' frontman Layne Staley to perform their track 'Opiate' on a beach.

Tool had just released their debut album Undertow earlier that year, while Alice In Chains were riding the huge success of their seminal 1992 album Dirt.

The festival lineup also consisted of PrimusViolent FemmesStone Temple Pilots and Fishbone.

Check out the footage below, which also features a mild crowd full of topless dudes. The sound quality is actually pretty decent for such an old clip!

You will forever be missed, Layne!
