After six long years of silence, grindcore behemoths Pig Destroyer are back with their sixth spew of bile Head Cage, which will be out on September 7 via Relapse Records. The band have just released a second song off the album called 'The Torture Fields' with a live video montage to accompany, and in true Destroyer fashion it kicks you right in the teeth from the get-go. For those worried the band were fully abandoning their blasting grind roots after the first single 'Army of Cops', you can rest easy because there's enough frenetic riffs, blast beats and thrashy passages to satisfy.
Founding guitarist Scott Hull had this to say regarding the change of musical direction compared to earlier albums:
“When I started writing the album, I said, ‘Absolutely no blast beats.’ I wanted to stay away from 4/4 time signatures. I wanted to write something that was just absolutely different. But my bandmates were kinda wincing at the no-blast beats thing, so I eased back into listening to Assück and Human Remains and stuff like that. That’s why the record doesn’t sound inconsistent with the rest of our discography. But hopefully it’s a little more angular and weird than what we usually do.”

Head Cage is the first album to feature bassist John Jarvis in their line-up and will also feature vocals from members of both Agoraphobic Nosebleed and Full Of Hell.
